US Navy "Charleston" Littoral Combat Ship Service
The US Navy held a service ceremony for the Bohai Sea battleship "Charleston" in eastern South Carolina on the 2nd. At this point, the US military served a total of 16 Littoral Combat Ships.
US Secretary of State Spencer said in a previous statement that the "Charleston" can help the US military maintain the waterway and deal with the unstable situation. Captain Chris Brusca told local media that the "Charleston" home port is located in San Diego, California on the west coast, but is expected to be deployed to South America or join the Navy's Seventh Fleet.
The "Charleston" is numbered "LCS 18" and is an "independent" Littoral Combat Ship with a cost of approximately $440 million. The ship has a full displacement of 3,100 tons, a length of about 128 meters and a speed of 40 knots.
The ship is the sixth warship named after Charleston, the largest city in South Carolina, in the history of the US military. The last "Charleston" was an amphibious transport ship during the Vietnam War.
The Littoral Combat Ship is a light surface vessel used for offshore operations. It is available in both "independent" and "free" versions, mainly for surface combat, anti-submarine and demining.
