Super Eagles in Pot 1 in the draw for 2022 World Cup qualifiers

The Super Eagles will maintain a strategic distance from other African heavyweights in the draw.

Super Eagles of Nigeria are in Pot 1 for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in front of the fundamental draws on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, in Cairo, Egypt.


The Super Eagles make Pot 1 because of their situation on the FIFA Ranking where they are 31st position and third in Africa.

It is the most recent FIFA Ranking discharged in December 2019 that was utilized to decide the pots for the draw.

Being in Pot 1 implies that the Super Eagles will dodge other African heavyweights as Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and harsh opponents, Ghana and Cameroon.


Since their FIFA World Cup debut in 1994, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have equipped for six of the last seven FIFA World Cups, missing just the 2006 version and have arrived at the Round-of-16 three times.
